Class Descriptions & Schedule

Wee Scots

New & returning dancers ages 3-6. Learn the basics of Highland dance through fun games and exercises while developing skills such as balance, jumping, counting, and musicality. Participation required at the Year-end show in May with the option to perform at other events depending on ability. Ages 4-6 are also encouraged to participate in the Primary category at competitions, meant for introducing young dancers to the competing world without the pressure of being in the regular competition levels.

Rec 1

New recreational dancers ages 7-12, with 6-year-olds considered on a case-by-case basis. This introductory class teaches the basic positions and movements and dancers work towards completing their first few dances such as the 16 Pas de Basques and Fling. Participation required at the Year-end show in May, and other performances strongly recommended.

Rec 2

Experienced recreational dancers ages 7+ who are working on dances such as the Seann Triubhas, Lilt, and Sword. Participation required at the Year-end show in May, other performances strongly recommended. Dancers are encouraged to attend class x2 per week and work towards joining the competition team.

Comp A

All dancers in the Beginner competitive level who are on the competition team. All Beginner dances are practiced and students work towards harder movements and better technique. Performing regularly is encouraged and annual adjudications are required. Dancers are strongly encouraged to attend class x2 per week and intensive workshops as often as possible.

Comp B

Dancers who are competing at the Novice level or above and who are learning dances such as the Jig, Hornpipe, and Tulloch. Performing regularly is encouraged and annual adjudications are required. Dancers are required to attend class x2 per week and intensive workshops as often as possible.

Comp C

All dancers in the Intermediate & Premier competitive level who are on the competition team and working on Championship & Premiership dances. Performing regularly is encouraged and annual adjudications are required. Dancers are required to attend class x2 per week and intensive workshops as often as possible. BY INVITE ONLY.
